The Developmental Environment

Behavioral Science – Emotional Intelligence

Students receive an emotional intelligence deep dive, followed by personalized assessments through the internationally recognized Emotional & Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) evaluation process.  Leveraging this 360-degree feedback tool, they refine their leadership style through group and individual coaching. 

  1. Interactive Classroom – Mental Models & Helpful Tools

    A values-in-action focused curriculum that leads students through a continuum from identifying personal/organizational values through decision-making and execution.  Students discuss values-centered leadership theory, proven leadership principles, and relevant case studies to develop useful mental models of leadership.  They learn techniques for recognitional and analytical decision-making as well as well as practical tools to help lead change, navigate challenges, and manage crises.

  2. Experiential Learning – Practical Application

    Students test and practice their leadership abilities through experiential education events that allow them to refine their skills in dynamic environments.  These environments provide a transformational leadership laboratory where students apply their learning through hands-on experiences like orienteering challenges, leadership reaction courses, wilderness expeditions, and critical incident scenarios. The students are then led through professional debriefs that provide lasting lessons and enhance team dynamics.

  3. Growth Mindset – Continuous Development

    Post-program, we offer additional team training sessions, follow-up assessments, advanced leadership programs, multi-day expeditions and/or individual coaching to ensure ongoing leadership development.
