Business Strategy
All organizations recognize the importance of understanding the changing operating environment and thinking strategically, but few have the internal resources to not only plan effectively but to turn those plans into synchronized action that achieves results. Silverstone combined our years of experience in military strategy with graduate level business education and experience to create a disciplined planning process that enables clients to turn ideas into action.
Our Methodology
Four Phase Process
Phase I – Understanding the Operating Environment
Our team works continually to stay attuned to the ever-changing micro and macro-economic factors that affect all organizations, as well as the ever-present technological and international disruptors that require organizations to adapt and innovate. As a result, we enter the strategy discussion adding immediate value to our clients.
In addition to the major factors in the operating environment, we study the client’s specific area of the economy, looking at such elements as competitors, regulations, governmental policy, supply chain, and customers.
Once the foundation is in place we begin strategic planning by interviewing key leaders virtually to understand the way that they see the operating environment and its impacts on the organization over the coming 3-5 years. We then publish these results to the planning team to gain a baseline of understanding before the real planning begins.
Phase II – Strategy Development
Following the interviews, we will convene an in-person planning session with senior leaders of the organization. We will leverage best practices from both graduate-level business education and national-level military strategy to help guide the development process. The output of this session will be the Key Result Areas and Goals, along with an implementation timeline that will serve as guidance for the Action Planning.
Phase III – Action Planning
The Action Planning phase brings together operational level leaders who will actually implement the strategy at the level of execution. These leaders will determine the action steps and timeline to bring to reality the goals that the senior leaders developed.
Phase IV – Implementation and Refinement
This is the point when many consultants would forward you a slide deck and walk away. Silverstone is different in that we remain partnered with our clients through execution and refinement of the strategy, assisting in developing and implementing our proven techniques for accountability, synchronization, and adaptation.
